Yeah it was an absolute joy on the first movie so it was easy to come back and do it all again!
Why was it so easy?
Because all the establishing work on the characters had been done so it was just like stepping into old skin. Plus we got to film in Sydney for almost a month!
Did you record all the voices with all the other actors?
Yeah we did this time whereas on the first Happy Feet we did a lot of it in separate sessions.
Which Happy Feet did you enjoy voicing more?
The second one felt like a more complete experience. Going to Sydney and living the movie as we did was a lot more fun than recording bits and pieces here and there. I got to go to New Zealand after as well which was great fun!
Your character, Mumble, dances a lot. Are you a good dancer?
I can dance! I don’t really have a certain style, I like to dance to soul music a lot. Sometimes I just tap my feet! I don’t really go to many clubs these days though!
When you first started acting did you ever think you’d be doing the voice of a penguin?
I’d have thought it was so cool! I might have thought you were a bit crazy if you told me that when I first started though!
You play a parent in Happy Feet two. Would you like to be a daddy one day?
Ha-ha yeah! I’ve not got it written down as to when I’m going to start seriously thinking about it though!
What’s your favourite animal?
Apes because they have the same qualities as humans, they are extraordinary creatures. There’s just something intriguing about them!
What’s your favourite scene in Happy Feet 2?
I loved doing the bit where Eric sings opera to the elephant seal. It was so much fun and I think it’s a beautiful part of the film!
Happy Feet 2 is available now on Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray
