KERMIT THE FROG!

What made you get back with the old gang and make a new Muppet film?
Well, I received a script and on the front page it said The Muppets so I thought, ‘that’s a good start!’  I knew I didn’t have to audition to be in the movie either so that was good.

There’s a new Muppet called Walter. How did he get involved?
Well, Elmo wasn’t available so we got Walter in. He was very nervous and fainted a lot on set!

How do you think the Muppets come across in the film?
Like a load of absolute bottom of the barrel losers!

Does this film put the Muppets back in the spotlight then?
We’ve done a lot of stuff over the years just not a big movie so this has helped put us back on the map. We work together a lot doing a lot of TV specials and things with the old gang.

Will The Muppets be back on TV regularly on the back of this?
I don’t know if we’ll be back on TV on a regular basis but it would be wonderful I could finally make use of those red curtains I’ve been carrying around for 30 years!

Haha! You’re probably more famous than ever now though!
Things are working very well for us Muppets at the moment. Disney have trusted us to make a film which is good!

So you’re enjoying being back then?
There have been a lot of parodies of The Muppets in our time but we’ve been away from the public eye for a while so maybe it’s our fans way of bringing us back!

Valentines day is just around the corner. What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done for Miss Piggy?
Apparently I got Miss Piggy a string of white pearls but I only found that out when I got my credit card statement through!

Why isn’t the film in 3D?
We’ll we’re in 3D all the time. Plus, those glasses give me such a headache I wouldn’t be able to watch my own movie!

The Muppets is in cinemas 10th February
